About / Introduction
Alpine is an extended position borough of New Jersey, positioned in Bergen State, and it is a suburb of New York City. Back 1903 this little borough was carved out of what was Harrington Township, with the name itself coming from the wife of famous journalist Charles Nordhoff (who at the time found the surroundings similar to the Swiss Alps. ).

Rio Vista - an upscale community located in the southernmost part of Alpine. Home to the “Devil’s Tower†(a natural stone clock purported to be haunted) and actually designed by Charles Rollinson Lamb.
For those considering picnicking, boating, hiking or biking, the Palisades Interstate Playground runs the entire amount of Alpine. The fishing boat basin serves as a private marina, as well as a nice vacation spot for an night stroll or afternoon outdoor luncheon.
